Américo Rio
Invited Assistant Professor at NOVA IMS
Américo Rio is a Lecturer at NOVA IMS since the 2015/16 academic year, where he currently teaches Web Technologies and Applications and Mobile Application Development.
He previously served as a guest lecturer at ISCTE-IUL (2006–2020) and at the European University (2009–2016), teaching courses in web, mobile, and game development.
Américo is also the co-founder of Itcode, a company specializing in custom software development for web, mobile, desktop, and social media platforms. Over the past two decades, he has led and developed numerous national and international projects in these areas.
He holds a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology, a Master’s in Computer Engineering, and a Bachelor’s in Physics Engineering (FCT/UNL), along with postgraduate studies in Entrepreneurship and Business Creation (INDEG/ISCTE) and Computer Engineering (FCT/UNL). He is also recognized as a Specialist in Computer Engineering by the European University.
His academic and research interests include web and mobile application development, game development, Internet of Things, software development processes and quality, data science, large language models, data/text/web mining, big data, business intelligence, and data warehousing.
