Professor Jorge Carrola, Invited Assistant Professor at NOVA IMS and researcher at MagIC – Information Management Research Center, has been appointed President of the newly established EMEA Academic Board of SAP University Alliances.

The new board represents the academic community of approximately 1,000 higher education institutions across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), corresponding to around 42% of the global SAP University Alliances network. It joins the existing regional boards in DACH, North America, APAC, and Ibero-America, where Professor Jorge Carrola previously served as a board member.

SAP University Alliances is one of the world’s leading academic ecosystems dedicated to advancing education, innovation, and research in digital technologies and enterprise solutions. Through collaboration between universities, researchers, students, industry partners, and SAP, the initiative promotes the development of digital skills and applied research addressing contemporary organizational and societal challenges.

The EMEA Academic Board aims to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry while fostering education and research in digital transformation, business technologies, data-driven innovation, and enterprise systems. In this context, Professor Jorge Carrola’s appointment represents an important international recognition of his contribution to digital transformation education and academic-industry collaboration.

The appointment reinforces MagIC’s international visibility and its engagement in global research and innovation networks focused on digital transformation, enterprise systems, and data-driven innovation. It also creates new opportunities for collaboration between academia, researchers, students, and industry partners.

Professor Jorge Carrola was also recently distinguished by SAP University Alliances EMEA with the Educational Excellence Award 2025 and the Co-Innovation Excellence Award 2025.
