Guilherme Victorino recognised for Best Presentation at ICEDS 2025

Guilherme Victorino, researcher at the Information Management Research Center (MagIC) and faculty member at NOVA IMS, was awarded Best Presentation in the Online Technical Session 2 at the 6th International Conference on Education Development and Studies (ICEDS 2025). The conference was hosted by the University of Oxford at Rewley House, Oxford, United Kingdom, from 26 to 28 March 2025.

Victorino’s presentation, entitled “Transforming Learning Environments: Developing a Smart Environment Control System for Design Thinking Spaces,” captivated the audience and reviewers alike for its innovative approach to integrating smart technologies with pedagogical design. His work introduces a dynamic system tailored to optimise environmental conditions—such as lighting, acoustics, and temperature—in real time, specifically within design thinking learning environments that demand flexibility, collaboration, and creativity.

The distinction, awarded for both the clarity and impact of the presentation, reflects the international recognition of applied research at the intersection of education, technology, and human-centred design. The judging panel highlighted the practical relevance of the project and its potential to enhance engagement and productivity in educational spaces.

Held annually, ICEDS brings together educators, technologists, and policy experts to explore forward-thinking strategies for the development of education systems worldwide. Recognition at this event places Victorino’s work within a global dialogue on how digital innovation can shape the future of learning environments.

This award is a testament to the interdisciplinary spirit and applied innovation championed by MagIC and NOVA IMS, reinforcing the institution’s role in shaping next-generation educational practices.
