About the Project
AIvents – AI-Driven Event Management in Oeste
Coordinated by NOVA IMS, the AIvents – AI-Driven Event Management in Oeste project brings together a strategic consortium composed of the Intermunicipal Community of Oeste (OesteCIM), Turismo de Portugal, and Turismo do Centro, combining expertise in public administration, regional development, tourism policy, and data science. The project aims to develop intelligent agents powered by large language models (LLMs) to support the strategic planning and management of public events in Portugal’s Oeste region.
Built upon OesteCIM’s “Smart Region” data platform — which integrates diverse datasets on monetary transactions, mobility, energy consumption, CO₂ emissions, public transport usage, and accommodation — the project addresses the current lack of AI-driven tools that transform this wealth of information into intuitive and actionable insights for decision-makers.
AIvents focuses on creating an agent-based system capable of accessing and analyzing real-time and historical data, performing descriptive and predictive analytics, and generating natural language summaries and visual outputs. A key feature of the platform is its conversational interface, allowing users to interact with the system through natural language queries and receive contextualized analytical responses — democratizing access to advanced data analysis.
This enables public authorities and event organizers to identify patterns, anticipate impacts, and forecast outcomes of future events, enhancing their ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate initiatives in a data-informed way.
Leveraging NOVA IMS’s expertise in data integration, artificial intelligence, and urban analytics, the project aims to deliver applied computational tools, scientific contributions, and a pilot-tested decision-support platform, advancing digital transformation, regional sustainability, and smarter governance practices in Portugal."
