About the Project

MarIA - Integrated platform for the development of artificial intelligence models for the sea

Innovative project aimed at benefiting citizens and businesses through the application of artificial intelligence in the maritime sector. Developed by NOVA IMS and the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute, MarIA focuses on modernizing public administration, enhancing service delivery, and supporting strategic decision-making.

With a strong emphasis on simplifying processes and driving digital transformation, MarIA seeks to improve operational efficiency, foster competitive advantages, and promote innovation. The platform serves as a hub for knowledge sharing and collaboration, offering resources such as datasets, practical case studies, and e-learning tools to engage stakeholders in leveraging AI technologies. By fostering partnerships and co-creating innovative solutions, MarIA aims to transform public services, optimize resource use, and align with Portugal's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.

This initiative also supports the creation of a data intelligence and science center with advanced analytical capabilities, targeting the maritime sector's specific needs. Additionally, MarIA encourages the development of new products and services for administration, businesses, academia, and citizens. Through its forward-thinking approach, MarIA is paving the way for smarter governance and sustainable development in the maritime domain.
