About the Project
The project aimed to equip the Oeste Intermunicipal Community (CIM Oeste) with its first integrated territorial intelligence platform, leveraging big data and data science. This platform provided the ability to collect, store, process, and analyze data from operational systems and municipal sensor networks, combined with data generated by public Wi-Fi networks across the municipalities. Doing so transformed the paradigm of tourism planning and management, adopting a Smart & Sustainable Tourism approach.
One of the project’s key innovations was its focus on understanding how people interact with the CIM Oeste region, using Wi-Fi access point data to analyze movements in both space and time. By merging this information with municipal operational systems, the project developed a dynamic, real-time application that enhanced the experience for residents, workers, and visitors. This integration of diverse data streams allowed for smarter, context-driven marketing actions and improved decision-making for tourism management.
