Mário Gaspar da Silva

Mário J. Gaspar da Silva is a Full Professor in Computer Science and Engineering (Information Systems) at IST, U Lisboa, and a Researcher at INESC-ID. 

His main academic interests are in Data Science and Engineering (information retrieval and text mining, biologic and geographic information integration), Health IT and Bioinformatics, Ethical and Social implications of information technology, and Social Computing. 

Along with the coordination of the Data Science and Engineering master degree at IST, he is involved on the implementation of the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI),  a project involving organisations in i22 countries to provide a cross-border federated network of national genome collections, associated with other relevant data, for advancing data-driven biomedical research and personalised medicine solutions to benefit citizens of Europe.
