Ian Scott has been selected as one of the newest members of the EUTOPIA Young Leaders Academy (YLA), representing NOVA IMS within this prestigious European university initiative. With a strong background in data science and blockchain, Ian Scott’s research focuses on sustainable and innovative solutions in fields like energy and waste management. As research director of the NOVA Blockchain Lab, he has developed blockchain applications that address real-world sustainability challenges, including peer-to-peer energy trading and decentralized waste management systems.

Reflecting on his selection, Ian Scott shared, “I am excited about the opportunity to join the EUTOPIA Young Leader Academy and to contribute to the development of a more connected, inclusive, and impact-driven academic community in Europe. Through my participation in the YLA, I believe that I can significantly enhance my research leadership skills, expand my research network, and initiate collaborations that address major scientific and societal challenges.”
