Roshanak Agharafeie Wins Best PhD Poster Award at MagIC’s Data Research Meetup

The MagIC Research Center proudly recognizes PhD candidate Roshanak Agharafeie, who was awarded the Best PhD Poster Award at the recent Data Research Meetup for her outstanding research on “Deep Hybrid Modeling of a Supercritical CO2 Extraction Process.”

The event, held on September 27th at the NOVA IMS, brought together over 100 participants, including researchers, data scientists, and industry professionals.

Roshanak’s winning poster focused on her innovative approach to hybrid modeling, a cutting-edge technique that bridges machine learning with process modeling, addressing key challenges in the extraction processes. Reflecting on her achievement, Roshanak said, “Success is typically driven by collaboration, teamwork, and the support from those around you.” She recognized the invaluable support of her supervisors, Professor Jorge Mendes, MagIC researcher, and Professor Rui Oliveira and Professor José Pinto from NOVA FCT, where the BioLaMer Project is based, whose guidance was instrumental throughout her research.

This recognition highlights the high standard of research excellence within the MagIC community, showcasing the innovative work being done by its PhD students.
