About the Project
GEOJO - Geospatial data storytelling for environmental journalism
The GEOJO project, "Geospatial Data Storytelling for Environmental Journalism," aims to bridge journalism and earth sciences by equipping students with cross-disciplinary skills in geospatial analysis, storytelling, and communication to address climate change and environmental challenges. The project promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data-driven storytelling to enhance public awareness and engagement.
Through five work packages, GEOJO will:
- Conduct Needs Analysis and Develop a Syllabus: Identify educational requirements and establish a curriculum focused on AI, geospatial data, climate change, and geo-journalism.
- Develop and Implement a Curriculum and Platform: Create an innovative course and online learning platform, complemented by a community forum for collaboration and resource sharing.
- Deliver Training and Assess Impact: Provide in-person and online training sessions, evaluate skills acquisition, and ensure high-quality outputs.
- Disseminate and Exploit Results: Share findings and resources through workshops, social media campaigns, and academic publications to maximize reach and impact.
The project will result in the development of innovative educational resources, skilled professionals in geo-journalism, and enhanced collaboration among journalists, scientists, and students, contributing to a sustainable and informed societal approach to climate issues.
